Sydney June 2013 (10 photos)
Back with more from the VIVID festival of Sydney which I wasn’t able to post before taking my break.
Whenever possible I like to photograph from different angles and vantage points. As the VIVID festival of Sydney goes for just over 2 weeks, I was able to find the time to return. This time I went to the deck of the Opera House to see it up close.
However, the main advantage of this position was being able to look back, directly at the projector. This was almost as interesting as the show itself.
I’m surprised I didn’t photograph from this position at last year’s event.
Those aren’t clouds in the background…
In almost no time at all, in came the fog again…
By the way, for the Dr Who fans, for one performance only, they stopped the usual light show and did a tribute to 50 years of Dr Who. I wasn’t able to get there, but here’s a link to the performance: http://youtu.be/gwD3qBDMFNw
And if you missed it, here’s the first set of photos I took: Random scenes of VIVIDness at the VIVID festival.
Fantastic photos! The ones of the projector were great! 🙂
Thank you very much. 🙂
Wow, amazing colors! Greetings, Ron.
Thank you very much. Cheers.
Great shots and it is helpful when you can go back to things for a different vantage point. Even after all the great color shots the B&W shot is stunning. Thanks for the link, I have followed The Doctor since #4 (Tom Baker).
It’s like landscape photography. A bit of scouting first and one finds the best location. Glad you enjoyed the link.
Yes, I frequently do this with abandoned spots – not only to get he best location for shooting, but to see what kind of undesirable activity may be going on that needs to be avoided.
Ahhh, the dangers of the urban jungle.
Awesome captures!
Thank you. 🙂
I really like the shots of the projector!
How did I know you would say that. 🙂
You are just smart that way, I guess…..
😉
Absolutely spectacular shots!
Thank you very much.
Beautiful photos!
Thank you. 🙂
These are stunning. I am amazed that the black and white at the end is as dramatic as the full-color, but it holds its own. Well-done!
Thank you. I was very pleased with that one.
Amazing, excellent captured… 🙂
Thank you.
your photos are amazing! great work! 🙂
Thank you so very much. 🙂
Wow…gorgeous shots.
Thank you.
Amazing clarity and colours! Truly appreciate your photography 😀
Many thanks! 🙂
I love these
Thank you.
I’m totally obsessed with b&w photography, but I must admit that the color pictures are amazing and the emotion inside them is stronger.
As you know, my photos are mainly b&w, but the colours here are essential to these photos. It was quite spectacular looking straight into those lights. Thanks.
Each of these is simply breathtaking!
Beautifully captured.
Thank you very much.
Wow, you really rose to the challenge of getting these pictures – fantastic!
Thanks very much. 🙂
I love the perspective from the alternative viewpoint especially as I have stood at the top of Sydney Harbour Bridge!
Thanks very much. You did the bridge climb? I haven’t but I’ve considered it. I guess locals tend not to do these things, and besides I don’t think I’d look good in those blue jumpsuits. 🙂
I know it is too late…And everything has already been said….But I DO love them!!!!
It’s never too late. 🙂 Thank you so very much.
🙂
Beautiful and colorful post. Love these photos.
Thank you, and welcome.

Great display of the bridge. This are so beautiful photos. It must make you headache to chose for posting when one is better then the other. I would not be in your shoes. 🙂
I’m pretty sure it’s a headache you would like to have. A great show and plenty of photos. 🙂
Of course, I’m so jealous. I have seen two videos of the whole spectacle and I’m surprised how fast the images past. This makes your photos even better. I think I would go back with a memory card full of black pictures. 🙂
I doubt that. 🙂

Ron is right about colours, but the moodiness in your last post makes it my favourite here.
Thank you.
Awesome pictures of a colorful festival, my compliments.
Thank you very much.
