Sydney June 2012 (6 images)
Previously I’ve posted images from the Vivid Festival of Sydney 2013. Over at the WordPress Weekly Photo challenge, the topic is Let there be light. A good excuse to show some images from the 2012 festival.
Back then the projector was positioned on top of the Overseas Passenger Terminal. This year, there was a stand alone projector.
If you would like to see more from Vivid 2013, please look here:
Great night shots – very colorful and no noise.
Thank you. The trouble with photographing these light shows is the image is rarely static abut actually changing rapidly.
Good thing that you don’t experience shutter lag – which used to drive me crazy with my first point & shoot digital camera.
There is a bit of a lag, but I’m a planner. It’s a continuous show. So I watch the show first to get a feel for it, then photograph the next round and then have a better idea of when to get a relatively decent static shot.
Planning is evident from your street shooting – and it certainly works here as well.
SUPER!
Thank you.
Oh wow!!!!!! Unbelievably beautiful.
Thank you kindly. ๐
Nice shots! Did you take it with tripod?
Thanks. Yes, an absolutely essential item for these shots.
๐ Thanks. Have a great day.
You too. Cheers. ๐
Wow! It’s gorgeous! It must be incredible in person.
Thanks. It was, and very popular too. But I do remember it being very cold.
I wonder if very cold means the same to us? ๐
Perhaps not. ๐ If I recall correctly, about 8 degrees C which is about 46 degrees F.
That was our high today and it felt wonderful! ๐
๐
Stunning night shots! Great work.
Thank you very much.
Fantastic night shots. I LOVE the anglerfish vehicles. Very clever.
Thank you. When I first saw them they were just parked. Then the cyclists got in and rode so I followed. Quite interesting to see. ๐
Fantastic photos, really cool!
Thank you very much. ๐
Why is this city so @&*!@ stunning? I need to go there! Amazing pictures!
Your enthusiasm makes me laugh. ๐
Thank you and do try to come to Australia some day. So much too see and so much contrast. Perfect for a partying photographer like yourself. ๐
Lol! It’s good to make people laugh ๐ Australia is in my list, for sure!
The colors are fantastic!
Thank you. It really was vivid! ๐
Mind-blowing photos. Thank you for this treat!
My pleasure. Glad you liked them. ๐
Oh wow, that last one makes me want to be there!
It’s a yearly event now. Come on down!
Wow Gorgeous serie. My favorites are 1,2 and 5.

Merci beaucoup. ๐
Hav a great day too!
Bloody middle of June? – whaddya expect? [grin]
Have noted that if I want COLOUR, this is the place to come to.
Great work, L.D.
I think VIVID is part of a trick to get people to go out on cold Winter’s nights. ๐
Definitely great for colour. And I’ve never seen so many people out with tripods in the one place.
Wow! Amazing shots!
Thank you. ๐
The pictures are beautiful. How much fun it would be to see for real. I can almost hear the Ohs and Aahs. ๐
It really is quite amazing to see. The crowds are getting larger every year.
These are stunning! I wish they had festivals like this here in the UK. Was there any music played? ๐
Thank you. This year they had a few strategically placed speakers timed to the lights. I don’t think they did that last year, but there’s so much else going on, you don’t really notice.
WOW, stunning photography and Sydney is one of my favorite (favourite) cities. I want to go see Sydney ablaze with lights. I’ll check on the dates for next year.
Thanks. Every year around the same time but they have a website “vivid sydney”. It’s expanding with more displays at more locations too.
Always great to see the Opera House in a different light ๐
Yes, breaks up the boredom of the usual plain night lighting. ๐ ๐ ๐
Nice simple lines to it against the complexity of the building!
Amazing lights, amazing night, amazing photographer who took the shots! ๐
Awww shucks. Thank you. ๐
I love the last photo. It’s so stunning. I don’t even have words to describe it. The water looks gorgeous. I wish I could lay on my back and just admire the colourful beam of light. Thanks for sharingโฆI enjoyed looking at all the photos!
Many thanks. It’s become a very popular yearly event now. Very lively with all the displays, kind of like Christmas. ๐
Incredible!
Thank you. ๐
Wow. I wish I were in Sydney!
The weather’s quite fickle at the moment but we have our good days! ๐
gorgeous!
Thanks very much.

Wow, beautiful shots, you’ve done a great job capturing the light.
Thank you.
That is spectacular, Lignum! I’m in awe!
Thanks very much. ๐
Watching these pictures makes me feel like I’m inside a color kaleidoscope. The feeling is good ๐
What a great description. Thank you. ๐
Wonderful images, Lignum!
So full of color and light.
Many thanks Lisa.
Every single one of these shots is stunning! I would be hard pressed to pick a favorite, but the one of the opera house is the absolute best I’v ever seen of that particular landmark, so I’d have to pick that one.
Thank you very much. It’s a shame it isn’t lit up like that all the time. Worthwhile seeing it if you haven’t already.
I have been there, but it wasn’t nearly as pretty as the night you captured it.
Wow – these are so beautiful! ๐ Night time photography can be so amazing and colourful sometimes. I love city lights against the night sky – definitely my kind of picture I would have on the wall!
Yes, I like a good lit night photo. They can be quite dramatic. Thank you. ๐
simply magnifique… I’m stunned, speechless… my very best and friendly greetings from Toulouse, France, “old Europe”… cheers! ๐ Mรฉlanie
Thank very much. Greatly appreciated. Cheers. ๐
Scrolling slowly down with a Wow for each fantastic shot! The saturation and detail are so brilliant!
Thank you very much Patti.
Just stunning shots… each one of them.
Night shots, so sharp….
I liked the last one most.
Thank you kindly.
Wow, your technique is just amazing!
