You can try to resist
Try to hide from my kiss
But you know
But you know that you can’t fight the moonlight
“Can’t Fight the Moonlight” is a song written by Diane Warren, recorded by country pop singer LeAnn Rimes and featured on the soundtrack of the film Coyote Ugly.
Just out testing the low light capabilities of the A7R at sunset. Tripod naturally, adapted Leica 50mm summicron lens. I was about to leave when I turned and realised the moon was rising. This was taken from the carpark of Clovelly Beach.
Beautiful shot. I like how you can make out just the silhouette of the couple.
Thank you kindly. I had to walk around a bit to get them and the moon at about the right relative positions. I’m sure they were wondering what I was doing. 🙂
Glad you turned around and stayed for the shot. Moonlight is a tough shoot – nicely done!
Thank you. I’ve got the dud shots to prove how tough it is. 🙂
For any photographer worth his salt – we all have more duds than keepers ‘:-)
True.
Great capture of the rising moon! The couple in the moonlight adds additional interest. It lets the photo tell an entirely different story than if it had been the moon alone.
Thank you very much. I completely agree – the human element brings a bit of emotion to the photo.
Romantic! What more can I say? The shot is great!
Thank you. Have a great weekend coming up.
The weekend was great, soaking rice in wine and drinking some by the side!
Sounds wonderful!
Nicely done, worth what you say were the duff shots to get a good image like this one! 🙂
The duff shots will never stop happening. Ever. 🙂
Of course not, we all have them….
Beautiful.. just beautiful… and romantic!
Very kind of you you to say so. Thank you and have a great day.
Dramatic and warm at the same time. Softness of lights and shadows brings atmosphere of intimacy.
Thank you very much. I was lucky that the light was right and that couple were there long enough for me to get a good shot in. Have a great weekend.
I kept your image opened yesterday and listened the song you chose for it.
Have a great weekend too.
Thank you. I hope you have a great weekend too. 🙂
Wow, I love this photo. 🙂
Thank you kindly. 🙂
Carpark at Clovelly,eh? – amazing what beauty can come from such unlikely places! An absolute ripper, LD!
Thanks very much. It’s prime ocean view real estate. I think people drive here just to sit in the car park all day. 🙂
REALLY good to have you back posting, me old china.
Takes my breath away…
Thank you. 🙂
How many promises have been made under the moonlight’s influence?
Brilliant moon,
is it true that you too
must pass in a hurry
Issa
A beautiful haiku from a master of the art. Thank you Marcelo.
From a car park?!? You must be kidding!! The shot is magical!! I wish we had car parks by the beach…
Several of the beaches here have car parks with ocean views. I’ve never thought of it as unusual. 🙂
Really lovely, I like it a lot! Such a great shot of the moon and that couple sitting there is a lovely element. That song fits just perfectly. 🙂
Thank you very much. 🙂 People regularly come here just to sit and watch the ocean.
Superbe photo!! The silhouette of the couple is just as it have to be.
Thank you, I was fortunate to be in the right area at the right time.
very much like this! Beautiful moon / lovely silhouette of the couple
Thanks LB. It’s a popular spot for ocean/sky gazing.
I know this song!
What a gorgeous image for it.
Thank you very much Lisa. Have a great day.
I do not know this song! Still a beautiful image 🙂
My original working title was Moonlight Serenade, but this often changes as posting time approaches. 🙂
Many thanks.
Nice capture of the couple. No EXIF, M Mount? I know you mentioned it’s likely native lenses for you with the Sony, but are your M lenses usable (know usable is *very* subjective and dependent on individual taste/style)?
My 2 main lenses on the A7R are the Sony Zeiss 35 and the previous Summicron 50 (I have the lux and the cron. I know, I know…). The Leica/Sony store owner tried several Leica/Voigtlander lenses on the A7R and gave me his opinions. I like to mix it up because sometimes I do want autofocus.
If you can afford it, nothing wrong with having two (or more) nice 50s. 🙂
After a bit more thought, I remember I was using 3 lenses that night. Actually this was taken with the 50 summicron. Thank you! 🙂
very romantic:)) moon shots are difficult… I’ve tried a couple of times, but nothing decent came out.. I’ve read some photographers make more than one exposure to have detail in the moon as well… so do you like the Sony? what have you been shooting with so far?
Thanks. I’d like to do that, but I use Lightroom, rather than PS so I don’t play with layers, otherwise I’d have no time for work. 🙂
Some small niggly issues but overall very happy with it. I’ve been using it for everything, but mostly architectural/landscape shots.
The paradise of moonlight, wherever it shines and what a spectacular shot! I can almost smell the warm salty air . . .
Moonlight is very becoming, if only it can be captured properly. Thank you Patti.
Hey, you’re back !!! yay!!!!
Whoa whoa …. so romantic
Thank you kindly. 🙂 Have a great weekend.
As some other commenters have said, this is a very romantic shot. I am wondering about your ISO setting for this?
Thank you. ISO 1600.
Oh, interesting, I would have maybe guessed it would have to be higher than that, but obviously not.
It was a bit lighter at the time. I reduced the exposure a bit in post processing. 🙂
I see 🙂
And you have found it 🙂 Gorgeous take, LD 🙂
Thank you Paula. I hope you have a great weekend. 🙂
Wonderful
Thank you. 🙂

Grazie mille.
It’s a beautiful beautiful shot. I’m sure it was the cover of a romantic novel 😀
Thank you very much. 🙂
Another stunning beauty that you captured. Such intimate mood, such beautiful colours. You are the master, what can I say…
You’re too kind. Thank you. 🙂
Never too kind, just really in awe with your work 🙂
Thank you again. 🙂
Excellent photo! That’s so awesome! Wish I could do that… 😀
Thank you very much. 🙂
Gorgeously romantic!! 🙂 Reminds me of one of those evening holiday shots you see in brochures, inviting you to come and have a restful holiday filled with romantic moonlight evenings. And of course, every holiday is like that! 😀
Thank you. I wish! 🙂
