moonlight serenade

Sydney January 2014

You can try to resist
Try to hide from my kiss
But you know
But you know that you can’t fight the moonlight

“Can’t Fight the Moonlight” is a song written by Diane Warren, recorded by country pop singer LeAnn Rimes and featured on the soundtrack of the film Coyote Ugly.

Just out testing the low light capabilities of the A7R at sunset. Tripod naturally, adapted Leica 50mm summicron lens. I was about to leave when I turned and realised the moon was rising. This was taken from the carpark of Clovelly Beach.

  1. Really lovely, I like it a lot! Such a great shot of the moon and that couple sitting there is a lovely element. That song fits just perfectly. 🙂

Nice capture of the couple. No EXIF, M Mount? I know you mentioned it’s likely native lenses for you with the Sony, but are your M lenses usable (know usable is *very* subjective and dependent on individual taste/style)?

    • My 2 main lenses on the A7R are the Sony Zeiss 35 and the previous Summicron 50 (I have the lux and the cron. I know, I know…). The Leica/Sony store owner tried several Leica/Voigtlander lenses on the A7R and gave me his opinions. I like to mix it up because sometimes I do want autofocus.

very romantic:)) moon shots are difficult… I’ve tried a couple of times, but nothing decent came out.. I’ve read some photographers make more than one exposure to have detail in the moon as well… so do you like the Sony? what have you been shooting with so far?

    • Thanks. I’d like to do that, but I use Lightroom, rather than PS so I don’t play with layers, otherwise I’d have no time for work. 🙂

Some small niggly issues but overall very happy with it. I’ve been using it for everything, but mostly architectural/landscape shots.

  4. Gorgeously romantic!! 🙂 Reminds me of one of those evening holiday shots you see in brochures, inviting you to come and have a restful holiday filled with romantic moonlight evenings. And of course, every holiday is like that! 😀
