Sydney February 2014
It’s a fine line between pleasure and pain
You’ve done it once, you can do it again
Whatever you’ve done, don’t try to explain
It’s a fine, fine line between pleasure and pain
“Pleasure and Pain”, written by Michael Chapman and Holly Knight, and sung by the Divinyls (1985).
…
I was walking along the corridor when 3 tables ahead, I saw this man reach behind with his left arm, and he started to scratch. I’m grateful he did, because it made for a much much better photo than I would otherwise have gotten. The facial expression says it all. 🙂
Always be prepared.
Timing is everything.
Brilliant shot. It’s as if he’s looking upon heaven. Ah, the little things in life. 🙂
Little pleasures are often the best. Thank you. 🙂
Perfect match between the words and image!! Who can argue with you, timing is everything?! 🙂
Thanks. Timing is everything, and a little luck doesn’t go astray either. 🙂
Timing really is everything. This image really does tell a story 🙂
Although indoors, he was under a skylight. I was really lucky with the lighting and timing this time. Thank you very much. 🙂
…And you ARE always prepared, Lignum Draco. It’s quite admirable! It does feel good to scratch one’s back, doesn’t it? One of the simple pleasures in life. 🙂
It definitely is a simple pleasure, but can be a nasty pain if you can’t reach the spot. 🙂 Thank you. 🙂
You captured the moment! And proved you’re fastest guy in Sydney 🙂
Thank you. Have a wonderful weekend ahead. 🙂
Ačiū:) You too!
🙂
It’s such a great photo, also glad he scratched 🙂
Thanks. His face says it all. 🙂
Yes, the facial expression says it all! Great capture, Dragon!
Thank you very much. He does look very very happy, doesn’t he? Have a wonderful day.
You photo make my day brighter 🙂 Thanks to you Dragon!
You’re welcome. 🙂
Yer now in danger of having to find a song for every photo … 🙂 It’s a nice environment, that cafe up in the QVB, but bloody expensive.Good that scratching his itch made him smile …
I do like a nice title. Whether it’s a quote, a song, or other. Expensive for sure, but I suspect their rents are higher than elsewhere. I rarely eat at these cafes.
One can only afford a coffee. It is a great candid shot, eh, LD? – you musta been tickled.
Yes, I think I had a similar facial expression when reviewing the photo later, and then the photo title came to me! 🙂
Let us pray, then, for similar inspiration in the future. Ask me if you’ve exhausted all other avenues. [grin]
🙂
Fantastic timing Draco! He looks so happy. 🙂 A great shot!
Thanks. I think at that moment, he is lost in his own world, and very happy. A nice place to be. Have a wonderful day. 🙂
Truly a wonderful place to be. 🙂 Have a wonderful day too Draco!
Thanks. 🙂
What a great expression!
Absolutely. I think I had a similar reaction when reviewing the photo later. 🙂
Love it!!!
And most definitely great timing.
Thank you. Candid photography is all about “the right moment”. Have a wonderful day.
Love it! Knowing he was scratching really makes this photo as you understand that real sense of pleasure (hence his expression) that he was feeling. Well done
Thank you.
Love this shot! The expression on his face says it all
It does indeed. Thank you.
Bravo! Once again, another wonderful candid. Are you shooting “from the hip” or are you looking through the viewfinder?
Thank you kindly. You can call me a “dufus hipster”. 🙂
What a great photo, he looks so relieved. Yes, timing is everything. And so is luck. Timing and luck – an explosive combination 🙂
You’re so right on both counts. Timing and luck is a great combination. And he does look happy. 🙂
What a capture!
Thank you.
Nice to see you, the M9, and 50 lux back in action as a team! 🙂
Thanks. 🙂
Great photo! Crossing the line in the right direction – one of those happy and bright moments..
Thanks. Definitely! 🙂
his expression is priceless 🙂 the light coming down on his face from that skylight makes the whole scene really stand out… very well captured!!
Thank you very much. He was quite noticeable with the sun streaming down on him.
Beam me up Lignum! A fantastic shot!
As a trekkie from way back, why didn’t I think of that line!
Thanks Patti.
Perfect moment!
RE: Two pieces of concrete.
Thank you. 🙂
When I first opened the post, I saw the smile .. and wondered what was giving him such pleasure. Now I know! Excellent!
Cheers. Have a great day.
I wouldn’t have guessed he was scratching himself until you mention. He looked bliss though. I feel so lucky I’m not in Sydney… wouldn’t want to be caught by your lens, lol 😀 Nice shot and yes the expression said it all!
Thanks. Well, you’re no stranger to the camera. You’re on my list to catch on camera; one day. 🙂
