Sydney June 2013 – 2014 (2 photos)
It was a June day in 2013 when I was out in the pedestrian mall, looking for people to photograph. June is Winter in Australia. It had started out warmish that day but I could tell that a cold change and a storm were coming, so I decided to end my photowalk and head inside for some food. Ahead of me, I saw this couple talking, rather animatedly. I readied my camera to get a shot of them, but as I got close to range the woman turned and walked away. Then I heard her say,
“It’s time to see what I can do
To test the limits and break through
No right, no wrong, no rules for me
I’m free!
Let it go, let it go
I am one with the wind and sky
Let it go, let it go”
The man then folded his arms and his eyes followed her. Then he called out,
“You’ll never see me cry
Here I stand
And here I’ll stay
Let the storm rage on
The cold never bothered me anyway”
…
So I missed the shot of the two of them together, but being close enough, I was content to take his photo.
…
As I continued to walk past him, I saw his lip quiver, and he whispered,
“That perfect girl is gone”
I gave him an understanding glance and quietly said,
“Let it go, let it go, don’t hold it back anymore”
…
Then, as an afterthought I did a U-turn and decided to chase after the woman to get her photo. Fortunately I caught up to her as she stepped into a patch of sunlight. She was easy to spot for her orange coat…

Superb candid portrait
Thank you very much.
We used to be a couple
And now we’re not
I wish you would tell me why!
Do you want to be together
It doesn’t have to be a just us…
Go away,
Okay, bye.
Ahhh, the ditty king meets the snow queen. Thank you. 🙂
Beautiful photograph and words 🙂
Thank you, Leyla. 🙂
“However, I make no apologies for the use of selective colorisation and poetic licence.”
We’ll let it go….this one time.
Touché. 🙂
Very cool selective coloration, LD. And I’m delighted to learn that even secret agents can be poetic.
At secret agent school, we receive a broad ranging education. It’s not all about megalomaniacs. 🙂
Good work requires no apologies…nicely done!
Thank you very much.
I don’t see Elsa in this photo 😉 Nice capture.
She was too busy conjuring up the coming storm. 🙂
Thanks.
Ah, a good story and wonderful photos a day make life easy and make me happy. 😉
Glad you enjoyed it, Helen. Thank you.

What fun 🙂 Maintain a sense of humour at all times…
Glad you enjoyed it, Jo. What’s life without a sense of humour?
Good one! You really had me going there! 🙂
LOL. It’s easy to get caught up in the story. 🙂
I LIKE the poetic license !
Thanks. Sometimes I look back at my posts and wonder, how did i ever think of doing that? 🙂
This was excellent. Loved the story as much as the photos!
Thank you very much. 🙂
Love the orange-coated lady big time–really striking image.
Thank you.
Oh I love your selective colourism 🙂 Beautiful work, Draco. And the first bloke is quite eye catching too 😀
Thank you, Paula. Good to see you’re back. Hope you didn’t have the flu the whole time you were off.
PS Glad you see someone you like. I won’t tell your husband. 🙂
Brilliant story. Brilliant shots. The best photo moments seem to appear when you’re after some food or have a coffee or pastry in your hand 😉
Thank you. Yes, it’s easy to relate events to food. 🙂
I love his stance!
Beautifully captured, Lignum!!
Thank you, Lisa.
I love his photo and a fun read too. 🙂
Many thanks, Beth.
Cool shots and lovely poetry 🙂
Thank you, but the lyrics belong to Disney, from the movie FROZEN. 🙂
Still it’s fine combination!
Thanks. 🙂

Strong characters and wonderful poetry Draco! 🙂
I read somewhere that this song from FROZEN is like a “musical drug” for children. They can’t get enough. And some adults feel the same. 🙂
Thank you very much, Elina.
🙂
I am afraid I am too late to say something original..But I love them anyway!!! 🙂 🙂
Thank you very much. 🙂
You are clever, LD, and the orange coat is fabulous.
Thank you. I like to let my imagination roam free every now and then. 🙂
A mystery and a story in one! I love her orange coat, it looks brilliant with everything else turned back and white! 🙂
Thank you, Suzy. A very dominant colour is needed to make selective colorisation work. And in winter, when everyone else was wearing black or grey, she just stood out.
why did he let her go?
but on the other hand, he’s handsome and she has an orange coat… they will be both fine 😀
great story, Lignum 🙂
I’m not sure. Maybe, she’d found a “special friend” and wanted some space. Hard to know sometimes. 🙂
maybe he never told her she’s “that perfect girl”… true, hard to know sometimes… 🙂
