“Parc des Buttes-Chaumont”
Paris, France. June 2018 (15 photos)
This is Part 6 of my France 2018 photo series, and also Part 14 of my Europe 2018 photo series.
Now that I’ve posted from every country I visited in Europe during my 7 weeks there, most recently Germany, I thought I’d revisit those countries in no particular order.
Let’s start with some photos I took whilst wandering around Paris in the Spring. These were all taken in the general area east of Le Marais. Le Marais was featured in a previous post of this series.
“Palais des Glaces”
“CimetiΓ¨re du PΓ¨re Lachaise”
I might put a separate post together later for Père Lachaise.
“Germaine Tillion”
Germaine Tillion (1907-2008) was a French ethnologist, best known for her work in Algeria in the 1950s on behalf of the French government. A member of the French resistance during WW2, she spent time in the RavensbrΓΌck concentration camp.
“Canal Saint-Martin”
“Street Art by Vinie”
“Maisons colorΓ©es de la rue CrΓ©mieux”
“Vingt et un”
“Somewhere in Faubourg Saint-Antoine”
“Somewhere else in Faubourg Saint-Antoine”
“The shape of water”
That’s a mermaid on the left and a fish with legs on the right.
“Villa de l’Ermitage”
“La Fontaine d’Henri IV”
“Parc de Belleville”
“Butte Bergeyre”
Offering beautiful views across a vineyard to Montmartre, I was there for about 20 minutes admiring the view and eating some pastries I’d brought along. Two women came walking by. I didn’t see another person during my time there at all. I guess it still is possible to find local secrets in a big city.

Serene and pretty. I’ll be grateful for the separate post on PΓ¨re Lachaise. It’s one of the first spots I went in Paris as well, after Montmartre.
Thank you. PΓ¨re Lachaise was on the must visit list. It’s a beautiful place. Thanks for the encouragement to put that post together.
I would also like to see a separate post. I was thinking that as I looked through this post, then noticed it was the first comment π
That seems to be a popular request. I’m not surprised – it is such a beautiful place.
Love these random moments…and that rad street art by Vinie!
Thank you, What what I can tell, that is Vinie’s artistic style. All her art is similarly done.
Great shots. I love the variety in subject, color and angle.
Thank you. It’s a less touristy and more authentic part of Paris.
What struck me most was the greenness and the colour. The amazing street art, especially the huge girl with bubble hair she looked so 3D as though she was popping out of the wall. Iβm loving this series.
Thank you. Yes, vivid green is kind of strange to an Australian’s eye, isn’t it? Paris is known for its street art. A saw a few examples. The larger ones really stand out.
Love that mural on the wall. A beautiful collection of photos.
Thank you. It was good to enjoy a part of Paris, predominantly away from the tourist crowds.
Ahhh cue the song… c’est bon!
Yes indeed. Paris is a song. π
And wine and cheese and bread…. or so I’ve heard π
Ah yes, my daily ritual when in Paris. π π π
The pain! The pain! No wait… that should be le pain! Le pain! π
Sacre bleu! LOL π
A beautiful, quiet place without dealing crowd! Lovely captures of the doors, street art,…and the “shape of water” is really cool.
Thank you for sharing with us, Dragon. π
Thank you very much, Amy. I enjoyed Paris and it was good to out into areas tourists commonly miss. Some lovely views from out east over the city as well.
Père Lachaise definitely deserves its own post. I stop by there every time I visit Paris. And end up getting lost.
Then it shall be done. π I agree, itβs a beautiful place you could wander aimlessly in for hours.
Beautiful – 21 has to be my favorite!
Thank you. That was such a beautiful and colourful street. There were other artworks on the street but I liked no. 21 the best, too.
Beautiful street art.
Paris is known for it, particularly the large murals that cover the entire sides of apartment blocks.
Stunning selection of images LD. What a lot of colour you found in Paris!
Thank you very much, Liz. The colour does grab your attention when you get away from the more monotone scheme of the central city.
Wow! You have a phantastic eye for motives.
Thank you very much. π
Real life in Paris. π π I walked alongside Canal St. Martin but no further out of town. Loving the diversity… and that mermaid.
Thanks, jo. an eclectic mix but that’s Paris. Yes, getting away from the ,amor tourist areas lets you see real life in Paris.
Jealousy is slowly brewing π
Only “slowly”? LOL
Thank you.
Because you spaced the posts well, the build up is gradualπ
Thank you. π
These are lovely scenes and captures of a Paris so very different to the usual tourist places. Please do a post about PΓ¨re Lachaise – it was on my list for my last visit, but the weather intervened and I never got there.
More than happy to post about PΓ¨re Lachaise, Jude. It seems to be of interest to several. Fortunately I had 2 weeks in Paris, so I had the time to allow for rain. It’s so easy to get lost in that cemetery, and I did. π
It was good to get away from the tourist crowds and experience Paris more authentically.
Beautiful and fascinating
Thank you very much, Leyla.
Very colourful street art amongst ordinary colour. It’s like color when you don’t expect it. Maybe a post on pastries, or at least a peak at what you ate? βΊ
Lots of surprises in Paris. It’s worthwhile just wandering around. Street art is everywhere.
Ahh, no food posts here although I may slip a food photo in occasionally. I posted temporary videos of every bakery I went to on IG so my foodie friends could be satisfied. The Pierre Herme macarons were a big a hit with them. LOL π
Belles images! I knew I should have kept up with learning French! π
Merci beaucoup. Bonne journΓ©e. π
π
beautifully expressed!
ooo la la π
Merci beaucoup. π
Hey Mr Draco .. wow these are just fabulous! That street art is something else .. And that mermaid! Some people are just so clever ..(photographers too of course π)
Thanks so much, Julie. The great thing about Paris is you can just wander and almost certainly find something interesting after a short while. Street art is a big part of the landscape there. And a patisserie is never far. π Hmmm, I think I’m talking myself into returning. π
Hmmm, I think you just might be π
LOL. Have a great week ahead.
