Look! Up in the sky. It’s a bird. It’s a plane. It’s…
Sydney July 2015 – September 2015 (6 photos)
Love is in the air
Everywhere I look around
Love is in the air
Every sight and every sound
And I don’t know if I’m being foolish
Don’t know if I’m being wise
But it’s something that I must believe in
And it’s there when I look in your eyes.
Love is in the Air, sung by John Paul Young (1977).
Above the Four Seasons Hotel, no less.
And also in the air at the same time was the aroma of coffee, at the Aroma Coffee Festival in 2015. July in the Australian Winter is the time to visit Sydney if that appeals to you.
But if you have a strong sweet tooth, September in the Australian Spring is the time to visit, for the smell of chocolate and sweets is strong wafting through the air.
Because that’s the time for the Smooth Festival of Chocolate.
These photos are from the 2015 Festival. I photographed the 2014 Smooth Festival of Chocolate previously.
..
And to mark the change of seasons, and the start of the Australian Autumn next week, I’ll be in the air, flying off to Melbourne, with camera in hand. Not sure if I’ll have the time to do a post next week or not.
Please take some pictures! Enjoy!
I might. π Thank you kindly.
Australians certainly love their coffee, no doubt about that judging from your shot of the Aroma Coffee Fest. Looks like a crowd that could rival New Year’s. As someone who likes chocolate, I’m all up to attending that chocolate festival one day π Happy travels to Melbourne. The weather here is looking pretty good next week. Good timing.
There’s definitely a coffee culture here. Gourmet chocolates are booming too. π
Thanks. Hope there’s some nice photography light.
Chocolate and coffee. Two of the Dragon’s secret weapons. π Bon voyage!!
One has to have priorities. π Thank you for the kind wishes.
I like your new header image.
What foodstuffs are in the Mason jars?
Ha! I was going to harass you about boarding an airplane, Dragon-Guy, but on a second read, you simply mention flying–not airline travel.
Enjoy your trip no matter HOW you get there. π
Dessert in a jar: Cake crust on the bottom, then custard, then fruit & Jelly, then meringue (torched) on the top. They had about 7 different ones if I recall correctly. π
Only you would pick up on the flying bit – I need the exercise. π
No coherent answer here…just laughing.
Keep an eye on your local skies – you never know. π
Enjoy this fun and tasty post! Lots of happy people there. π
Happy travel, Dragon!
How can one not be happy, surrounded by chocolate. π Thanks, Amy.
Damn, I was sure the opening lyrics were going to be Fernando ! Ha !
That’s for another post. π
This would be my favourite kind of festival – mouthwatering!!β₯ I wish we had such a festival where I live. We have just about every other kind, but not sweets. We used to have a chocolate factory that made the city smell of chocolate some days. It was slightly sickly, but I really miss it that chocolate air! π
There’s a great sense of excitement upon arrival and looking at all the different stalls. One must pace oneself correctly for these things. π
As I recently commented on Kaz’s site, you Sydneysiders are always celebrating something! It is a wonderful city for fun. Enjoy Melbourne.
Thank you, Jude. It does seem that way. Sadly, I missed the Tea festival, Regional Wine Festival, and so on.
There are only so many you can attend LD – I will forgive you for the tea festival but maybe not the wine π
A camera at a wine festival is not necessarily a good idea. π
Oh, that’s a poor excuse! Although having killed a camera by drowning it in wine I see where you are coming from π
It takes very little excuse to go to a wine tasting event but I would not take a proper camera, just the camera phone, for reasons you have indicated. π
Bon voyage!
Thanks.
Hello LD, what’s in the glass jar – meringue? It looks very very sweet. You’re coming to Melbourne? You should come and taste some Pinot!!
A selection of desserts in a jar – a less messy way to eat on the go. Baked cake crust on the bottom, then custard, then fruit & Jelly, then meringue (torched) on the top.
Sadly this is a quick visit only, and I won’t have time to leave the inner city. The next trip I’ll try to include more touristy things including a vineyard – one at your suggestion.
Fly safely, Draco!
Thanks, Paula. π
Splendid shots, sweet sinful treats.Enjoy your time in Melbourne π
Thank you very much.
My pleasure β£
π
A chocolate festival? and then in the comments I read of a tea festival? Look what I’m missing out on by not being home! Sydney in September is definely on my list once I ever get back to Aus!
We seem to have a festival for most things these days. π
That Festival of Chocolate sure looks good to me!
Great photos, Lignum.
Have a safe and wonderful trip!
The lure of chocolate is strong. π
Thanks, Lisa.
There is nothing quite like a local festival to get the great scents of life floating around the air ~ what’s not to enjoy. Cheers and safe travels.
Enjoying life is the key. Thank you very much.
Sydney in September certainly looks inviting. Love chocolate and coffee. Seems like something fun is always happening in Sydney. Can’t wait to see the Melbourne photos.
Plenty of weekend markets around, too. Maybe they want us to get out and about more. π
I’m just going to wander in Melbourne in my free time. Let’s see what happens.
Well enjoy! Melbourne has a great vibe!
I’m already thinking my trip is too short, and I haven’t left yet. π
Sydney seems to be the city supremo of festivals, of course it is a great outdoor place and I wonder about that heart. Was it a marriage proposal? Prime your wings LD and watch for drones I’ll look forward to visiting Melbourne with you.
I’ll leave the significance of the heart to your imagination. π
Drones? Now I’m nervous. Let’s see what we find in Melbourne.
Hope you get good photography lighting. I’m sure there will be lots and lots of people watching opportunities, time permitting of course…
Thank you. Here’s hoping. π
Wish you to catch this “something” π
Everyone’s looking for something. I hope you find it too. π
Your Sydney has been amazing, fantastic, beautiful….I cannot WAIT for Melbourne!! Safe travels!
Thank you kindly. Melbourne was a treat for the taste buds. Too bad this isn’t a food blog. π
Lemon meringue in a jam jar? I’m interested π Enjoy Melbourne! Catch you when you’re back.
I had a lemon meringue in a cocktail glass whilst in Melbourne. Whatever. I’ll take dessert any way I can get it. π
Looked darn good to me! The high life in Melbourne π π
Always room for dessert. π
I haven’t heard that song in ages!
An oldie but a goodie. It tends to get a fair amount of airplay here.
So many treats and great shots Lignum!
The sweets tasted as good as they looked. π
Your images really do allow me to BE there … for a few moments at least
Glad you could enjoy the atmosphere here. π
Such vibrant pictures make me want to visit this city soon. Thank you for taking me there in your post.
My pleasure. Glad you enjoyed it.
I shouldn’t be reading this post this late, all I can think of now is chocolate π
Sweet dreams. π π π
Oh my, that poem/song is beautiful. I hope you enjoyed your trip!
Thank you. I did.
